I have finalized the donation collection to Sarawak Children's Cancer Society (SCCS) today and will pass all the donations (cheque and cash) to them for official receipts this week albeit busy private practice. Thank you to all the cheerful givers. When I decided to go bald this year, I did not give any conditions (unlike some others). I was the first one to submit my name and the 31 donors came forward to raise total of $25,200 (not including those who might have gone online to http://gobald.my to donate). I had decided to match $1 to $1 but did not tell anybody of this including my home affairs minister (a.k.a wife). When the amount reached $25,000, I told them I would do just that i.e. I also gave $25,000. The extra $200 was a late entry but I accepted this. Most importantly, the money was not meant for me but all for the children with cancer who need assistance from SCCS.

Mum (Ngui Yew Ting 魏幼贞) returns from Melbourne on 4/2/2010 after one year stay there with her daughter, son in law, son and daughter in law and 2 grandchildren. She celebrates her 68th birthday tonight in Kuching with her sons and 5 grandchildren. The Lord has blessed her richly thus far.

Pastor Pau called daddy on Tuesday whilst he was doing an acute angioplasty for a man who came in with massive heart attack, in fact a church member from Matang Methodist Church. He wanted daddy to sing during both English and Mandarn Christmas services today. Thank God daddy managed to find the CD/mp3 and his sore throat has almost recovered.

Daddy got up at 5 am today and started warming up his voice. Later he dashed to Normah Hospital at 6:30am to see his 3 patients in ICU. Thank God all of them were stable. Then off he went to the church at 7:30am and prepared for the Mandarin service. He came back at 10:00am and picked us up and off to church again. During the English service, daddy sang using a softer tone as people responded to Pastor Pau's altar calling and were coming forward. That's disappointed daddy's critic (mummy) who expected a more powerful voice normally from daddy (like You Raise Me Up, Empower Me or Il Divo's songs). Thank God for the opportunity to share. Merry Christmas.

And today I received an email from her.

Hello Dr. Tang, Sie Hing

If you remember my name is Jennifer Baker from the Moody Bible Institute Women's Concert Choir and Bell Ensemble. You gave me medical care and translated my testimony during the 19th World Chinese Church Music Conference in Malaysia on 3. 6. 2008.

After the concert I never had a chance to thank you properly for helping me. I want to thank you for your help medically and for making my sharing time much more relaxing. I had no idea you would be the one to translate my testimony, but I'm glad God worked it out for us to meet the day before; even if it was for medical reasons. I never had the pain after that night and I believe I only had it so I could become acquainted with you. I get nervous when speaking in front of a crowd and often times my speech is not always clear. My last and only translator up to that night had been my mom. She would know what I meant to say and not what I said and already knew how to translate my history. My fear was that I would not be clearor not make sense and you would have difficulties translating so the people would understand. But God helped my through my fears and when you walked on the stage that night giving me a reassuring smile any fear I had was completely gone. I felt completely at ease and was able to speak with calmness and clarity.

I wanted to share with you how God used you to be a help and encouragement in my life even if it was for only two days. Thank you again and please thank your nurse Katherine for me as well!

5th Year Wedding Anniversary

Today (19th July 2008) is our 5th year wedding anniversary. We were married on 19th of July 2003 at Church of Good Shepherd, Singapore and wedding reception at The Fullerton Hotel.

We managed to have our decent dinner at Magenta. It has been a tough week trying to spare time to do this, private practice is tough with no free time. I thank my wife for her constant understanding and tolerance coz she has to share her husband with his patients etc.

Carissa will be 2 years old on 1oth of August 2008.

Labour Day Outing

Today daddy has already discharged all the patients from the hospital and he is not on call. Luckily there is no urgent call for echo or angioplasty, so we all could go to Damai/Santubong beach for day trip on this Labour day public holiday. We reached there at 5:30pm and it was cloudy, hence it was quite cooling. Daddy splashed in the sea whilst we strolled along the beach. Later we enjoyed a sumptous seafood dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Carissa had been watching signing time from 9 months old. Currently she is 18 months. Here are few of her favourite signs. Signing had helped a lot with communication with her. Thank God for minimum temper tantrums !!!

Since mummy a bit free, she also teaches Carissa maths. Now at 18 months she is able to do addition, substraction, multiplication and division. Here is Carissa doing some addition & substraction equation.

Carissa went to Jakarta & Singapore lately coz Catherine's best friend Shalu got married in Shangri La Hotel Jakarta. She dropped by Singapore for few days to meet up for the first time with uncle Geoff, auntie Sie Kiong and cousin Natasha who live in Melbourne. Carrisa also has roseola infantum last week. The picture (please zoom in) shows her fine rash (non-pruritic). The disease is benign and typically occurs after 6 months post partum when maternal antibodies drop.

People always ask me "Catherine, is she Indonesian?" Here is answer::(She was born in Sibu and is a Sarawakian/Malaysian. She cannot speak Foochow-mer huei gon hu zhew hua; coz she grew up overseas-Sibu>Petaling Jaya>Jakarta>Geelong/Melbourne>San Francisco>Los Angeles>Singapore>London>Hong Kong>Tokyo>Chicago>Stamford/Connecticut>Singapore>
Melbourne>>>KUCHING!)

Now you know why she cannot speak Foochow and Mandarin not so fluent.
Anyway she likes Kuching (means cat in Malay--CATherine).
